Our story
This land has always been home to something great.
Vail Ranch has been part of Temecula since 1867. What started as a cattle operation grew into one of the largest ranches in California — and the land has shaped this valley ever since.
It started with one rancher and a lot of open country.
Arizona rancher Walter Vail began building what would become one of the largest ranches in California — eventually 87,500 acres stretching from the mountains to the coast. The land shaped this valley, and the valley shaped the people who called it home.
Walter Vail was the kind of person places get named after. And around here, one very important baby goat is named after him too.

The chapters
A century and a half, in short.
The ranch begins
Walter Vail starts a cattle operation that grows into one of the largest ranches in California, stretching across the Temecula Valley.
The land waits
Vail Headquarters spends decades quietly holding its place at the heart of Temecula — history intact, waiting for its next chapter.
A living destination
Arteco Partners steps in to restore Vail Headquarters — not as a museum, but as a living destination of restaurants, shops, and community gatherings that feels like Temecula at its best.
Vail Kids Ranch
The newest chapter: a hands-on ranch for families, built on land ranched for over 150 years. The animals are real, and the history underfoot goes back generations. Walty, our baby goat greeter, has been here the whole time — waiting to meet you.

Vail Headquarters
The heart of it all.
Today, Vail Headquarters is home to restaurants, shops, gardens, and community events — with an energy that feels like the valley at its best. Vail Kids Ranch sits within it, keeping the character of the place and adding a day out for the next generation.
Arteco Partners
Building places that matter.
Vail Kids Ranch is a project of Arteco Partners — the team behind Vail Headquarters and several of the most beloved community destinations in the Temecula Valley. We believe in building places rooted in where they are, and built to last.
