FAQs

Good questions. Here are the answers.

Planning your visit

Nope. Walk-ins are welcome. You can buy your tickets and complete your waiver online before arrival to save time.
We are open Friday 2–6 PM, Saturday and Sunday 12–6 PM. Starting August 25, we are also open Tuesdays 9 AM–1 PM.
We may close during heavy rain. Check Instagram or call ahead if skies look uncertain.
Yes — plenty of it, and it’s free. Park directly in front of Vail Headquarters just past Kohl’s, walk under the Vail HQ archway, and head on back.

At the ranch

Closed-toe shoes are required inside the Goat Pen. Otherwise, just be comfortable. There are shade areas, but a hat and sunscreen are recommended in summer.
Yes. The ranch is stroller-friendly throughout.
Yes. A handwashing station is directly outside the goat pen, with sanitizers throughout, and restrooms are in the Cookhouse (don’t forget a re-entry stamp).

Animals

Our goat yard currently has 18 well-behaved working goats, including Walty. Our bunny barn has 6 of the softest bunnies on the planet, and children can see pigs and chickens too. Follow us on Instagram for the latest as we welcome more animals.

Birthday parties

Book online through our reservation system. For school groups, large groups, or off-hour events, fill out the inquiry form on the Celebrate page and our event planner will follow up.
Yes. Outside food, cake, and decorations are welcome.
Yes. Mention your membership when booking and your discount will be applied.

Private Parties

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of 50% of party and food fees is required at booking to reserve your date and party area. The remaining 50% is charged on the day of your event before admission. Any additional guest admissions, attractions, rides, food, or other charges are settled at checkout that day.

Upon arrival, the party host provides a valid credit card at the front desk to keep securely on file during the event; it is returned once checkout is complete and all balances are settled.

The 50% booking deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable and cannot be applied to another person or event. As a courtesy, parties may be rescheduled one time within 12 months of the original date, subject to availability.

If you need to reschedule due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, please contact us at least 48 hours before your event. Guests who do not attend and do not provide advance notice forfeit their deposit and are not eligible for a rescheduled event.

Absolutely. We provide photos of our party areas online, along with pavilion details and table dimensions. To view the space in person or take photos, we are happy to arrange a tour by appointment during the week. To avoid interrupting scheduled events, we cannot accommodate unscheduled visits.

We offer two party time slots each day:

  • Morning party: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Setup begins at 9:00 AM (no early entry before 9). Food is served at 11:00 AM. Cleanup begins at 12:00 PM; checkout and belongings out by 12:30 PM.
  • Afternoon party: 1:30 PM–3:30 PM. Setup begins at 12:30 PM (no early entry before 12:30). Food is served at 2:30 PM. Cleanup begins at 3:30 PM; checkout and belongings out by 4:00 PM.

Early entry is not available, as our team uses that time to prepare the ranch for your celebration.

Each reservation includes 1 hour of setup before your event and 30 minutes of cleanup after. To keep all parties on schedule, additional setup or cleanup time cannot be guaranteed, and late arrivals do not extend the reserved setup, party, or cleanup times.

Yes. Party hosts leave their area clean and free of trash. Each space includes two trash cans with liners; ask the front desk for more bags and our team will remove full bags to the waste area for you. Please do not dump water, ice, or other liquids in the party area. Additional cleaning fees may apply if excessive cleanup is required.

At this time we do not offer storage for party supplies, decorations, food, gifts, or belongings before or after your event — the one exception is a birthday cake or dessert, which can be held in the refrigerator behind the front entry kiosk. We recommend a wagon or cart to move items between the parking area and your pavilion. Vail Kids Ranch is not responsible for items left unattended.

Party check-in and ticket pickup happen at the Vail Kids Ranch entry kiosk on the day of your event (tickets are not available beforehand). We recommend the host check in upon arrival before guests enter the party area.

If fewer than the minimum attend, the package price stays the same and no refunds are issued for unused admissions. If your count exceeds the number included, additional guests are charged based on the actual attendance that day, up to the maximum capacity for your party space (children and adults included).

All guests check in at the front desk on arrival. To keep it smooth, the host provides a guest list with each attendee's first and last name; guests give their name and our team verifies admission and tracks the count. For the fastest check-in, ask guests to complete their waiver before arriving. Children 24 months and younger are free and do not count toward your total; guests 2 and older are included at the current admission rate. We will request your guest list the week of your event.

Yes. For everyone's safety, a completed waiver is required for every person entering the ranch. Guests who have not completed one will be asked to do so before admission. You can complete the waiver here.

No problem — our team tracks your count throughout the event. Any guests beyond those included in your package are charged at the current admission rate and added to your final balance at checkout. An accurate guest count ahead of time helps us give you the best experience.

Free parking is available for all guests in the lot in front of Vail Headquarters, between Kohl's and Famous Footwear. Arrive a few minutes early for parking and check-in, and consider a wagon or cart to move supplies to your pavilion.

No. Team members are not available to load, unload, or transport party supplies, decorations, food, gifts, or personal items. Hosts are responsible for transporting all items to their pavilion and removing them afterward. Ranch equipment, including wagons, is not available for guest use.

We do not provide a dedicated party host, and staff are not stationed in the party area during your event. Our team assists with check-in and is available throughout the day for questions and general help, and may pass through while performing ranch duties, but hosts are responsible for supervising guests and managing the event. For assistance or an emergency, visit the front desk.

Outside food and beverages are not permitted (except birthday cake/desserts and personal water bottles). Hosts are welcome to bring desserts such as cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. All other food and beverages must be purchased through the ranch's approved options.

No. Food trucks and outside food vendors are not permitted for private parties. All food service must comply with ranch policies and approved-vendor requirements. Contact our team about the food options available at the ranch.

Alcohol is only permitted in the private party area and is only available for purchase through the Daisy Bar at the Cookhouse. To keep a safe, family-friendly environment, any party found with outside alcohol may be closed without refund, and additional fees may apply per the rental agreement.

  • Piñatas

If you have a question about a specific item, contact our team before your event and we will help make sure it fits ranch guidelines.

Each pavilion includes seating and table space for your guests: the Cookhouse Back Patio has 3 large picnic tables on a brick patio, and the Bell Yard has 2 large picnic tables on a DG surface. Photos are available online and weekday tours can be scheduled by appointment.
